The following information is copied directly from Apple’s Lion installer: The trick is that you have to install the Lion Installer which is a special application that will upgrade your computer to Lion. Installing Lion via the Application can be done via both the Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5) disc or the Tiger (Mac OS X 10.4) disc. The answer is to go to the Apple Store, purchase Lion and upgrade on disk. You won’t be able to upgrade via the application that Apple distributes, because you don’t have a “10.4.6 Tiger (Retail DVD).dmg” disc (which I’m pretty sure the store will have). The Lion download requires you to use Lion’s disc. If I download Lion and upgrade using the disc, will I lose all my Tiger.
